How to get there:

ARRIVING BY AIR

 

Three airports serve the route - Frankfurt International (best - an hour by train to start and from finish), Frankfurt Hahn (which is nowhere near Frankfurt) and Cologne Bonn.

 

Flight information can change rapidly. Please do check for yourself directly with the airlines' websites before finalising any booking with us and do not book your flights until we have confirmed that we have provisionally reserved accommodation for you. 

 

Land by: Frankfurt International 18:00; Frankfurt Hahn 15:30, Cologne Bonn 16:00 for public transport connections to Bingen

Return flight earliest: 10:00 all airports for connections from Koblenz.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN

 

Nearest railway station:

Start: Bingen

Finish: Koblenz

 

Typical rail journey from UK via Brussels:

London: Eurostar to Brussels Midi, Thalys to Cologne, local train to Bingen (change Koblenz).  ~7½ hrs.  

Return from Koblenz:  As above in reverse. ~6½ hrs.

Getting to the start of the walk:

The first hotel is in Bingen, and the last in Koblenz. Transfer times and methods are suggested for the three nearest airports below. For train arrival transfers see below.

 

FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:

Outward: By train with 1 change, ~1 hr

Return: By train (direct), ~1¼ hrs 

 

FRANKFURT HAHN AIRPORT:

Outward: By bus with 1 change 2 hrs OR pre-bookable taxi c. 1 hr

Return: Airport Bus from Koblenz bus station ~  1¼ hrs OR pre-bookable taxi c. 1 hr

 

COLOGNE-BONN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:

Outward: By train with 1-2 changes, 2-3 hrs

Return: By train (0-1 changes), ~1½ hrs 

 

Transfers from train stations:

Outward:  Local taxi or 10 minutes walk to first hotel.

Return: 7 minutes walk to Koblenz station
