"This has been one of the best walking holidays we have had in Italy, this being our 13th or 14th such trip. Previously we have travelled with Sherpa, Inntravel, ATG Footloose and a couple of others. We found the walking a bit tough but, by taking the easier options, within our capability. We have had magnificent food and wine and above all we have found all the hosts most welcoming and helpful." "The Sabine Hills was a wonderful area to discover. Sunshine and blue skies made walking most enjoyable with such a variety of countryside and views. So many hilltop towns were fascinating to explore, and we really liked the interesting and mostly comfortable accommodation that you had found for us. We learnt such a lot about the area from Stefano. Thank you for another enjoyable and memorable holiday and an introduction to an undiscovered part of Italy. For our friend Ian it was his first walking holiday and he thoroughly enjoyed it, especially getting out into the countryside and staying in such an interesting old house In Rome: We discovered Snack Bars away from tourist hot spots for very good value panninis at lunch time, and 'Antica Taverna' on Via Monte Giordano not far from the B and B for a good value evening meal with a nice atmosphere." "It was good to visit this attractive and unspoilt area of Italy. We didn't see another person for three of the days walking. The food provided by our hosts was excellent." Sep '10
"Hi Mary, we are just back from our holidays and have had a wonderful time. The walks were excellent - great variety and just the right distance for people of our age(!) The accommodation was also to a very high standard and the food - especially the food - was superb." May '10
"I found everyone to be interested and passionate about their projects, helpful and to have a genuine interest in their clients. The weather was a bit grim but this was tempered with a warm welcome by everyone as well as good food and service." May '10
"Within our capabilities - having options was reassuring. Length of days was right for us. All the people we came across were delightful. The scenery was beautiful and the flowers superb. The best yet." Apr '10
"We didn't meet anyone else all week on the path. Total get away and relaxation. The harder routes were good and anyone who missed them, missed out. We had a great day with Stefano on our last day and think that a rest day with them should be promoted more heavily, especially after all the work he and Elizabeth have put in to the route. We also thought that a day in Rome at the start was good." Oct '09
On the 6th line of p.20 I believe that the cyclamen is not europaeum but neapolitanum. Certainly we saw a very large number of neapolitanum in the woods. The europaeum are sweetly scented which was not the case in the ones we looked at closely. Another distinction is the leaf. In the case of the former it is round and the latter is more like an ivy leaf. In addition, the books which I have covering Italian flora make no mention of the former which is found generally in central and eastern Europe whereas the latter has many references - and the name is very Italian! Another bird which we saw quite frequently is the hooded crow (corvus corone cornix) - also to be seen in Scotland!" Sep '09
"We all agreed this was one of the best holidays we had been on. The organisation was excellent. We all enjoyed the walks with their varied terrain and scenery and as you can see from the above comments the various accommodations each had ther own special appeal. Our 4 days in Rome capped off an excellent late summer holiday. Thank you." Sep '09
"Basically all our stop-overs were wonderful with excellent hospitality. The B and B in Rome was brilliant. Walk notes good. We were rather fazed our first night because of course we hadn't read the Blue Book properly until we got on the aeroplane, and hadn't got a compass, and thought we were going to get lost in the mountains, but the walking instructions were very clear and we didn't really need one. I passed on details of one or two of our off-piste strayings to Elizabeth. I hope we'll be back to go on another of your walks, and will pass your details on to friends. So very many thanks for a lovely holiday." May '09
"The flowers were delightful, especially the cyclamen which scented the woods. It was almost impossible to avoid stepping on them at times. We particularly enjoyed staying at Francesca's, and the Fienile, the food and conversation with people who tolerated our Italian." April '09
"The formula could scarcely be improved on but we felt this was the best yet, primarily because of the sense we had of being close to the country and having an opportunity to connect with people (as much or as little as we wanted). The people we met really valued On Foot Holidays and spoke highly of Simon - a hero in these parts for bringing a new kind of tourism to the area. We felt this extraordinary place deserved a bigger plug for its food, the best of the holiday. And the visit to the roman villa and olive plantation was out of this world." Apr '09
