Route started 2004 - only recent feedback shown

"We had expected tough "Andalucian" rocky and steep terrain for the entire walk, and  enjoyed the gentler tracks, paths and roads that we walked most days. The walks through the beautiful towns, villages and countryside of this mountainous region were a revelation to us.  We particularly enjoyed the challenges involved in walking along undefined routes, and had many unexpected encounters (horsemen, hunters, a huge goat herd, pigs ...)" Oct '11

"This was one of the best unguided walking holidays we have been on.  Beautifully organised and thoroughly recommended. We didnt want to fly too long and wanted to guarantee the comfort of the hotels hence the upgrade request." Oct '11

Dear Debbie, Flora and the On Foot team - Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our walk from Zahara to Ronda over the last few days! Your choice of accommodation couldn't be better, we felt very comfortable at each place yet completely immersed within the culture and environment.  Each of our hosts was a delight and did everything possible to make our stay memorable." Oct 11

"A short while later after walking through a nice woodland path, we rounded the corner and got our first view of Ronda in the distance – stunning.  We had another break in the sunshine looking at it across the valley, before heading down and across with Ronda getting ever nearer and looking increasingly impressive high above us.  I was so pleased to be approaching it in the sunshine, it would have been so disappointing if it had been raining. A steady climb up the fairly sheer cliff side brought the majority of the group to the top quickly, Dai, Shirley, Mila, Jim and I took a detour down a short way to get the full stunning views of the bridge from the viewpoint before joining the others at the top where Annwen had already bought a CD of Spanish guitar music from a man who was just packing his guitar away by the time we got there." "I really can't think of how it could be improved.  We were there to be outdoors, to experience a small rural region of spain - and we wanted to do it on our own without a group.  Still, we felt with the careful directions and the contact, mobile phone and the small B & Bs, that we weren't totally alone.  By the way, we met Guy on one of the hikes and he was delightful and very apologetic about his phone being accidentally off.  We liked him very much." April '11

"We wanted to say that we greatly enjoyed our walking holiday in the Ronda Mountains. We were very impressed with the efficiency of your organizing - everything worked without fault. We found the walks stunning and well chosen and the tour descriptions detailed and thoughtfully done." April '11

"On Foot made the process incredibly easy and you were all a pleasure to deal with. The pre-walk pack was full of useful information and the little extras, such as the map case, were invaluable.
We also took your excellent advice and went up to the Reina Victoria for a drink one night with Ray & Marilyn where we sat on the lovely wide colonial veranda in large comfy wicker armchairs with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine, watching a fabulous sunset, and all to ourselves! It sure beat the crowds on the bridge down the road!  Anne & I enjoyed it so much we went back there the next evening as well!" Oct '10

"Coming across the black pigs foraging for acorns was fun.  As I said everyone was very accommodating over Anne’s dietary needs but  they turned it into an art form and all the food that they served was announced as Sin gluten (thumbs up) or con gluten with a shake of the finger. We ate there the first night and the bread basket was pointedly removed from in front of Anne and she was then given her own gluten free bread! Once again, many thank for a fabulous week. The acid test is would we recommend the walk to our friends and the answer is Absolutely!" Oct '10

"We liked the hiking, beautiful scenery, the towns, the wonderful people, and the On Foot staff who made our trip go so well." Oct '10

"Wildlife. Really enjoyed the great variety of wild flowers. We saw a few extra birds that you could add to  the list in your booklet: Woodchat Shrike (on Zahara loop),  Cuckoo (from Grazalema to Montejaque), Red Legged Partridge (near Zahara and Montejaque) and Bee Eaters (on final day to Ronda). Lots of butterflies of course, including Swallow Tail) and we also saw a baby Corsican Fire Salamandar which was quite striking. It really was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment.

"We are very happy indeed to have booked through you. Again, we really enjoyed the great variety of terrain and scenery on the different walks - no two days were the same at all! We hope we might have the opportunity to do something else with you in the future. We greatly appreciate how prompt and responsive you have been to our queries and proactive with your suggestions.

It was really nice to get a call from Tristram within ½ hour of arriving at Zahara checking that all was OK."  May '10

"In Ronda, ate at 2 places recommended by the hotels - Los Cazadores fish bar restaurant - good tapas & dishes at very reasonable price; and Casa Mateos - tapas bar - also good value.  On the route we saw lots of woodchat shrikes - common on fences, and a large group of ibex on Day 5 close to Grazalema"  April 09

"At about the highest point on this section of the walk we were treated by an aerial display of some 30 to 40 Griffon Vultures circling overhead and swooping so low we could actually hear the wing beats. This is the third walk we have now done with your goodselves, starting with Turkey which was very  good and very different, Greece was better still and Athens as Athens always is was out of this world but Andalucia in Spring must be one of the most amazing walks I have ever been on in the entire 50 years of my walking career (I started very young with the local scouts).

"The highlights were undoubtedly the day five walk, Grazalema to Montejaque.  In addition the flora, fauna and wildlife was exceptional, which included all kinds of flowers, Mrs. Twomlow seemed to be able to name most of them, the Golden Eagles, Griffon Vultures, Spanish Ibex, wild goats, mongoose and countless other creatures to say nothing of our friendly four legged guide who eventually deserted us to lead one of the other groups walking in the opposite direction.

"What can I say an absolutely brilliant walk would be an understatement, I really do not know how to describe it, thank you all for an absolutely magnificent holiday." April '09

"Congratulations on a really well organised holiday. We felt very well prepared, despite this being our first self guided walk, and were confident as we walked that we had all the information we needed." Mar '09

"Just wanted to drop you a note to say that Mark returned to the office today and has not stopped telling everyone what a FABULOUS time he had last week.  He was very impressed with every aspect of the tour and indicated he would use your company again and again. Thank you again for all of your help in putting this together for us." Mar 09

"We really enjoyed the great variety of terrain and scenery on the different walks - no two days were the same at all!"

"Birds seen: Griffon vulture, lesser kestrel, black cap, stone chat, black eared wheatear, black wheatear, woodchat shrike, rock bunting, chough, tree creeper, crag martin, reed bunting, heard cuckoo(s) every day."

"As OAPs we were delighted to be able to complete all the walks without incident. Thoroughly enjoyable."

"Lovely walks, full of variety."

"The walks were great  - just a comfortable distance and excellent route notes."

"Fantastic scenery and wonderful flora and fauna."

"The On Foot holiday formula worked perfectly for us. We could feel in control of our own programme, yet always have a detailed guide at hand when required."
