ARRIVING BY AIR

The best 'local' airports are Trieste or Ljubljana. Intercontinental flights use Venice (5½hrs train journey to Postojna) or Vienna (8½ hrs to Postojna).

Flight information can change rapidly. Please do check for yourself directly with the airlines' websites before finalising any booking with us and do not book your flights until we have confirmed that we have provisionally reserved accommodation for you.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN

Nearest railway station:

Start: Postojna

Finish: Trieste (5 mins walk) or Ljubljana (short taxi ride)

Sample rail journey from and back to UK via Brussels/Paris:

London: Eurostar to Brussels for train to Cologne. From here a night train to Munich.  Change on to the train for Ljubljana and then another train to Postojna. ~24 hrs.

Ljubljana: Night train to Munich, then change for Paris Est.  Transfer to Paris Nord for the Eurostar, arrive London St Pancras International. ~17 hrs.

OR

Trieste: Train to Venice for night train to Dijon Ville and another to Paris Lyon.  Transfer to Paris Nord for the Eurostar, arrive London St Pancras International. ~18.5 hrs.

The first hotel is near Postojna (between Ljubljana and Trieste) and the last in Trieste or Ljubljana. Transfer times and methods are suggested for the two 'local' airports below. Railway station transfers are also given below.

LJUBLJANA AIRPORT:

Outward: Bus then train or bus (3 hrs), or local taxi then train or bus to Postojna (2 hrs) then Pre-booked taxi transfer from Postojna to first hotel (20 mins) OR Pre-booked taxi transfer fdirect rom Ljubljana airport to first hotel (1 hr) 

Return: Airport bus or local taxi 

TRIESTE AIRPORT:

Outward: Bus then train (3 hrs) OR Pre-booked taxi transfer to first hotel (1½ hrs)

Return: Airport bus or local taxi

Outward:  Your host will arrange a short taxi ride from Postojna to Hudicevec

Return: Trieste Station is a short walk from your hotel, Ljubljana Station a short taxi ride from either Ljubljana hotel.
